Black History Month Assembly

Black History Month Assembly

Dilynn Johnson, MC.

Ms. Vestas kindergarten class.

Dr Mia Williams, SPS district.

Taraji, Avery, Anthony, Khalil, and Princeton speak aloud.

Mapata (drummer)

Ms. Tia Yarbrough, spoken performance.

Different people spoke about black history and how appearance does not matter, black people are humans too. Khalil, Princeton, and Anthony spoke about how proud they were to be black and some poems and experiences being black.

Ms. Vestas kindergarten class were singing the Black National Anthem, they sang loud and made sure we heard them, and all the kids took it seriously and were singing with all their heart.

And Mapata did a drumming performance and interacted with the crowd by having them clap in rhythm to the drum and that slowly increased the pace of the crowds clapping with their hands.

Ms. Tia Yarbrough was reading out a speech and had everybody stomp while she spoke, rhyming the words together, and it was a lyrical poem; we could not gather more information about the poem she spoke though.
