Every year at South Shore there is a Literacy Night. Literacy Night has activities and tools which help your children read more often. Literacy Night is organized by Dione Johnson. Dione Johnson’s is South Shore’s literacy connector. Her primary goal is to help black boys and their families from kindergarten to third grade to get them to reading level by third grade. Dione Johnson also has a personal goal that is not a part of her job; she tries her best to strengthen the connection between reading and math. Dione Johnson believes that reading greatly impacts how children do in math. Dione states that better reading can give you more and better opportunities in life.
Dione’s goal for Literacy Night was for everyone to have a fun time and to demonstrate fun reading tools for kids at home. Literacy Night was successful in achieving this goal; Dione Johnson had fun and demonstrated reading tools for families at home. She is required to have activities at least three events every year. This year she is organizing Literacy Night, and has activities planned at Pi Night, and Culture Night. Each event will have fun reading activities planned by Dione Johnson.
Dione Johnson says she enjoys her job because she was born for service for families and children and has done it for most of her life. Dione’s goal for South Shore is to support families and children and to give them reading tools for home. She wants the tools to mirror their normal day at school. Her plan as a job is to provide families and children with their personal needs. Dione also runs two after school programs which work on math and reading. Overall, Dione Johnson wants to improve the reading skills and provide for families and children in need.
Literacy Night was a major success and Dione Johnson was a big part of that. Other events like Pi Night and Culture Night will also be a success and have a fun reading activity planned by Dione. Dione works hard to plan events like this while improving children and their families lives at the same time.
